Purpose and History
The purpose of the endowment is to provide financial support for study, research, and service in education and for the projects, programs, and activities of Pi Lambda Theta. For almost a century, Pi Lambda Theta, the most selective national professional honor society of educators, has fostered scholastic achievement among students and professionals. Its history has created a legacy of leadership and a commitment to academic excellence. In keeping with its mission to advance scholarship and professional growth, Pi Lambda Theta created the Educational Trust in 1981. In 1995, the trust was separately incorporated as the Pi Lambda Theta Educational Endowment. When PDK International acquired PLT in 2010, the endowment became part of the PDK Educational Foundation. All scholarships are managed according to their original contractual agreements.

Disbursements from named funds are restricted to the scholarships, grants, and awards specified in the underlying restricted fund agreements.
