I want to join PLT. What are the membership options?

PLT is the most selective national honor society of educators and has different requirements for student and professional members. You can find specific eligibility requirements and applications in the join section of the website.

What are the annual dues?

Membership is $44 per year, plus chapter dues if applicable.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. You may also pay by check made payable to Pi Lambda Theta.

How long does it take for my membership to be processed?

Once we receive your application and all necessary materials we will process it within two to three business days. You will receive a welcome email and a welcome packet by U.S. mail after we process your membership.

Do I have to send an official transcript?

You do not need to send an official copy of your transcript but may send a copy printed from the web, but keep in mind that any transcript you send must show your cumulative GPA.

After I have joined Pi Lambda Theta, how do I order gold cords for my graduation ceremony?

After PLT confirms your eligibility and processes your membership, you will be able to order gold cords online in the PLT store. You will receive a welcome email and a welcome packet by U.S. mail after we process your membership.

How do I wear the gold cords?

Cords are worn over the left shoulder with the knot on top, two tassels to the front, two to the back.

How do I renew my membership?

Members may renew their membership by logging in to the website. Click on “Renew” under “PLT Member/Subscriber Account” in the left hand navigation. You will be prompted to verify your contact information and enter your credit card information into our secure site.

If your membership has been expired for more than six months, you will not be able to log in to the website, but you can reinstate your membership by contacting the international office at plt@pdkintl.org or 800-766-1156.

Do I have to attend meetings to maintain my membership?

No, but you may find these to be valuable opportunities for networking and professional development with your colleagues.

How do I update my contact information?

You can log in at the PLT website with your user name and password to update your profile. If you need assistance please call us at 800-766-1156.

What is PLT’s relationship to PDK?

Pi Lambda Theta is a member of the PDK International family of associations, which includes Future Educators Association® and PDK International®. Under the PDK family umbrella, Pi Lambda Theta maintains its name, selective membership standards, and unique purpose. Together, PDK, PLT, and FEA support the full spectrum of future and current educators.
