Frequently Asked Questions

I’m a current or former Pi Lambda Theta member. What does this mean for me?

Great news! We are grandfathering all previous members into legacy membership. You will no longer need to pay a renewal fee to remain a member.

As a legacy member, will I continue to receive Kappan magazine?

No, Pi Lambda Theta membership will not include the magazine. To continue to receive copies of Kappan, consider joining Phi Delta Kappa.

Can I still apply for scholarships?

Yes, all members are eligible for scholarships.

Will I still be eligible for low-cost professional liability insurance?

Yes, all members have access to low-cost professional liability insurance.

I know someone interested in joining Pi Lambda Theta. Who is eligible to apply for membership?

  • Undergraduate seniors (or recent graduates) who intend to pursue a career in education and have a 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Graduate students who have completed one or more semesters of grad school, intend to pursue a career in education, and have a 3.5 GPA or higher (If they haven’t yet finished their first semester of grad school, they can apply using their undergraduate school information and GPA!)
  • Current educators or education professionals/support staff who graduated with a 3.5 GPA or higher

I need to purchase my cords for graduation. How do I do this?

Contact the national office at 800-766-1156 or plt@pdkintl.org. Once we verify your membership, you can purchase gold cords for $22 (plus shipping and handling); we’ll help you place the order.

I’m interested in continuing to support Pi Lambda Theta. How can I get involved?

For information on opportunities, including how to convert your former membership dues into a fully tax-deductible annual donation in honor of Pi Lambda Theta, please contact Katrina Breese at 571-335-0682 or kbreese@pdkintl.org.
